Community Quilting at Birmingham Museum & Arts Gallery- giving abandoned t-shirts a homePosted in Bloggies on July 19, 2012 by Luke Olly
Get Involved Finally your old t-shirts, charity shop rejects, those hideous curtains hidden away in the loft will have a home. On 27th July 10.30am-12.30pm- to observe a generation of environmental changes both good and bad our sewing group and whoever else wants to get involved (could be your friends, family and children) are continuing Northfield’s community quilt. We want to turn scraps of material into something beautiful and meaningful. We also hope that the museum’s visitors will be getting involved too! Here’s how our squares look so far but we’ve got loads of ideas to expand it but we especially need yours too. With your square we want you to tell us your story and how your environment has impacted you for the worse or for the better.
Environmental change in the Jubilee Year We are hoping this quilt will get us all talking about the changes, both positive and negative to our environment whether local, national or global. Our quilt aims to highlight species which are no longer endangered, the increase in renewable technologies, orchards planted and the culture of recycling. The Details We’ll be meeting at the Ecocentre at 9.30am to travel together or if you are Birmingham bound just meet us there. Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery Chamberlain Square B3 3DH On the activity zone on the second floor but don’t worry if you can’t find it, we’ll operate as your tour guides. We’ll also love for you to come to our sewing group every Friday morning. Over to you How has environmental changes impacted your life? |
